Three Days with Eduard

There are things you cannot put in a bottle.

Twice a year we open the estate to twelve people. Not for a tour. For three days. Eduard is there the whole time — from Friday evening to Sunday noon.

Three days to reconnect with Mother Earth. To sense the instincts that live in all of us and grow quiet in everyday life. Hence the name.

Voices

“It is a gift to be able to take time out from the bustle of life to see the world through different eyes and learn from an exceptional, inspirational farmer. You’re sure to come away with a different perspective not just on plants but on life itself.”

Isabelle Legeron MW · Founder, RAW WINE

“An unexpected mix of vineyard work, reflection, and the right amount of eccentricity. I came for the wine, but left with a deeper sense of perspective and a connection that lingers well beyond the weekend.”

Aleks Zecevic · Wine Journalist, Wine Enthusiast

“A winery creating a unique farming system that goes beyond just organic or biodynamic. Gut Oggau opens doors to things they don’t teach at school — and it’s a nod to a different lifestyle in general, regardless of whether you’re into farming or not.”

Marko Kovac · Co-founder, Karakterre

Friday — Arriving

At seven we meet at the table. A glass, a few words — that’s all a beginning needs. Then we cook what the fields provide, and it gets late.

Saturday — Out

Early. The horses are already awake. We walk into the vineyards and you see how they are worked. And then Eduard stops and explains how it all connects. What happens in the soil long before you see anything above. Why a vine grows differently on gravel than on limestone. Where the earth ends and the cosmos begins — and that this border doesn’t really exist.

It’s the moment most people stop asking questions and simply listen.

At noon we eat between the vines. In the afternoon Eduard leads through the estate and the cellar. In the evening, the table again.

Sunday — Letting go

A long breakfast. One last walk through the vineyards. Then we taste through the whole family — and suddenly you taste what was talked about the day before. One more lunch to say goodbye.

What remains

No certificate, no knowledge to show off. Rather a different speed. A sense of how a place tastes. And eleven people you didn’t know before.
